QUIESCENCE 2/ IBA SEE

Right in the east of Germany in a place close to Cottbus, called IBA see, there was one of the biggest coal mining areals of germany. When i came to east germany first time, the strong smell of coal hang in the air above every city. Many people worked there, whole families depended until very recently on jobs in coal mining. In 2007 this the huge aereal of IBA See was closed down, the machines taken off and it was prepared to be flooded to become one big lake for touristic use and pleasure. Where ones people died underground under sometimes unbearable conditons we will have now a blue, clear lake with nice wooden houses for the tourists to reside.
